Re: posi traction

dont think posi was an option in these years ( Imay be corected)

probably the easiest way to tell if you have one - do a burn out - 1 black mark ,no posi - 2 black marks yes posi

Re: posi traction

You could order posi, if you wanted it. Especially in the 4 wheel drive trucks. I have two 2 wheel drive trucks that have 12 bolt posi units in them. One of them came out of a 4 X 4 pickup, the other came with the 12 bolt axle.

Re: posi traction

yes limited slip (positraction) was an option (G80) on all the 73-87 trucks. 12 bolts had Eaton clutch type (LSD now) and the 10 bolts had a Gov lock. To see if the truck came with one, you would need the RPO list, to find out if it has one and know for 100% sure, you need to pull the diff cover.

Or, put the truck on jackstands and check it that way

If the clutches are worn this won't work.

Re: posi traction

My '73 has posi. I believe it says it in the build sticker. I tested it to make sure... It past the "two marks" test..
