TH350 into stock 58 Chevy

I posted this a long time ago but unfortunately life got in the way of my plans. I am now at a point at where I need to start working on my truck again. I'm looking at going auto. The truck has the original 283 v8 (warmed up to about 300 horse). It currently has a tremec tko5 speed that I have decided to sell back to a good friend that originally sold it to me for the same price. I have a rear trans crossmember already installed but I know I might have to remount it.
Anyone have a pics or can someone point me to another thread.

Doing research I see just a trans crossmember like the one I already have advertised as a auto trans crossmember. I was thinking maybe i need to use the tranny cross member I have and purchase a engine mount crossmember?

Any help is always appreciated!

you should be able to modify you existing x-member. set the 2 transmissions side by side and compare. time to buy a new tape measure.

This is one I purchased, it'll do what I need it to do, just had to trim the ends a tad to get it to fit inside above the lower channel of the frame. Haven't bolted it in yet, still have some adjusting to do with the engine mount and get it bolted down.

In The pic it looks you have the new modern engine mount crossmember and the same trans crossmember I already have on the rear of my tremec. So did you just use the two new crossmembers and leave to stock crossmembers alone?

I'm using both engine and trans universal type crossmembers yes. If you're talking front crossmember for the original style front engine mount, right, I'm not using that, and I removed the rear crossmember mounts that I believe the original bellhousing/trans mounted to. The rear one was cut when I bought the truck so I removed what was left, man those rivets on the stock crossmember were a pita to remove

Here's a site that sells the universal xmembers, I can't remember if I bought mine from them or not. But the various vendors aren't much different in price.

Excellent man! Thanks for the info and pics. This actually makes things a bit easier than I was thinking. One step closer to getting the old beast back on the road after 2 years!

All the best with your build, and keep in mind, there are several different approaches to mounts for stock front ends and transmissions. I went with these because of the bolt on type approach (can be welded later), and they were reasonable.

Some prefer welding the bracket style, or fabricated types, I just don't weld good

I know how it is man. I have no welding skill at all. I've been racking my brain about what to do and I was ready to sell it because I knew I couldn't afford to have something fabbed up at a shop.
