Help,,, I want to lift Blazer 6"
I want to put a 6" lift on my 72 blazer, but wanted to here all the good and bad before I do it.
What I was going to order is a Tuff Country 6" lift, with the new rear springs. How much stuff am I going to have to change? I'm not worried about the transfercase drop, or the brake lines, but I keep reading about having to change the steering box to a later model like after 73. Has anyone on here put on the Tuff Country lift? Any feedback will be helpfull, thanks Robert |

Suggest leave transfercase alone, buy high angle drive shafts, install crossover steering using a 2wd steering box.
Some crossover info |

All you need is a raised steering arm .
Cross over steering is a little more complicated but the final outcome is nice. |

Re: Help,,, I want to lift Blazer 6"
A 6" lift normally requires some drive shaft mods too, I had to lengthen the front on a 4" lift once.
The kit should come with brake line drop brackets, so your set there. Leave the t-case alone IMO. On the cheap/bare minimum, all you'll really need is the arm, longer shocks and once installed you'll figure out the drive lines. |

Re: Help,,, I want to lift Blazer 6"
I bought the same lift a couple years ago, all I had to buy was the steering arm and new brake lines for the front. I used the 1" drop for the t-case that comes with the kit. As far as the driveshafts, yours should work fine. The lift will pull the spline out about 1" or 1 1/8". It's not the proper way, but I've been that way for 3 summers with NO problems.
I only use 4wd once or twice a year, so maybe I'm flirting with devil. But I have a 400+ hp BBC and haven't broke it yet. You'll probably want to pull the steering wheel, and re-position, mine was upside-down. |

Oh, and obviously you'll need new shocks. I ended buying dual steering stabilizers too, stops some of the bump steer.

Re: Help,,, I want to lift Blazer 6"
I installed a 4" off road design lift on mine. It sets higher than a normal 4" lift and rides nice. I used the shackle flip kit in the rear. I did install the correct pitman arm and drive shafts were fine. The kit went on with no problems.
I run 35" tires with no problems. |
