Power steering box/pump conversion question.
I have a 69 step with a 350 Gen #1 motor. It is time for a steerng box redo. Is it beneficial to get the quick ratio box? I was also thinking of switching from the Saginaw PS pump to a Generation #2. Are there any benefits? Will I be able to use the same hoses running from let's say, an original steering box into a Gen#2 PS pump? Thank you in advance for the advice.

Re: Power steering box/pump conversion question.
I'm going with an Early Classics variable rate steering box from "Redhead". Can't help you with the pump question but haven't heard any issues with pumps
Here's a good thread if you haven't searched http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=304963 Last edited by Mondo; 12-27-2008 at 11:41 PM. |

Re: Power steering box/pump conversion question.
I believe the 1978 truck has the quick steering box. It's supposed to be a direct fit with the oem hoses. Not sure about the ps pump as I installed what I guess is a gen 1 pump. I never heard those being classified as gen 1, 2 etc pumps. Learn something everyday.
