Need a copy of vacuum routing diagram
I have the typical vacuum routing emissions diagram on the sticker under the hood. ('84 Chevy P/U w/305) As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have to replace all the emissions stuff to pass inspection here in Houston, bought the truck elsewhere and most of it has been removed.
Does anyone know where I can find that same vacuum diagram in paper form, or a file I can print into a hard copy? Guess I could hand draw it, and will if I have to. I've located all the parts I need to redo all the emission stuff, even using new parts, it'a not going to be a expensive as I expected, but buying the replacement parts, that's all I'll get, just the parts. My plan is to find one in a junkyard get as much of the stuff that I need as I can. That way I get all the mounting hardware etc. and see how it's all laid out, and replace components as needed with new once it's all in place. Having a paper copy of that sticker would be helpful to have in hand in the junkyard, and since the work probably won't get done all at once, would be nice to have a copy of it to mark up as the puzzle goes together to keep track of what's done and not done. I called a dealership, they said they didn't have that info. I suspect the guys in the shop have a way to access it, but don't have an inside connection. |

There should be some number or letters on that stick. They tell you what sticker you have. If you post those someone can find the diagram online. I believe the numbers are in the corner of the sticker. I think its 3 letter, but I cant remember for sure.

Find another DEALER
I'd find another Dealer, they have the Manuals with the stuff in it.
Guy sounds LAZY! Is he making any money off your parts your buying? I have a guy at the Chevy Dealer near me here thats not a whole lot of help sometimes either. I insulted him once and told him I knew more about what was in those part books than he did, which was true! Hang in there , somebody here will help. I don't have that year manual or I would. |

As Eddie says, get the 3 letter code off of yours. The Chiltons manual has them in it. If you tell me the code, I'll look it up and scan it for you.

MAN you guys are great!
First off - I did get the number off the sticker - XDJ I also looked at the links everyone posted. The Chilton site SLONAKER pointed me to did in fact have a TON of vocuum diagrams. Went through all the 305 low altitude automatic ones and found an XDH diagram but no XDJ. However I think the XDH is the same as my XDJ, will compare tonight. As for a visual, 85K5, if yours is a 350, it may be different. Mine's a 305. Also went to PISTON's post that mpg67 mentioned, or to the link on PISTON's post, assuing it's the same one. Think the diagram was for a 350, but the cruise control will come in handy. Need to check mine out. A big THANKS to all of you!

mckpaul:
I have the same trouble with my vacuum diagram sticker. I know the code (not in head) but couldnt find it anywhere. So I went to the local city library downtown. You may be suprised at how much information your local library has on older vehicles. The first time I went to this library I was suprised at its size. Its atleast 5 stories. http://copwww.ci.phoenix.az.us/SCANPIC/central.jpg If you go to a library bring money with you, because thet wont let you take the books home but you canmake copies all day long!
