vin question

I am looking to find out about my vin brake down
I have looked at the lmc. and the fsm. but the way my vin is listed it dosnt add up... KE181SXXXXXX

Yes and its still not there. The 4th digit is 8. Its not on any of the vin decoders

Lmc shows the 8 is to be the model blazer,k fourwheel,e v-8,1 forgot but 8 was model blazer

There's a really good book out there called the Chevrolet Pickup 'Red Book'.

Gives:
*Serial numbers
*Options & Specs
*Colors & Codes
*Photos & History
for pickups, El Caminos, Blazers & more covering the years 1946 - 1972.


What year is the vehicle your trying to find the vin info for? (need to know that)

According to the vin and link posted it is a 1971 1/2 ton 4x4 blazer with a v8 made in St. Louis

according to the link there is no 8 but i think its for blazer. my 6th digit is a letter for the plant on the link its suposed to be a number. ivle looked at it several times. can somone post up the fist 7 of there vin (blazer) to compare

GMC's did have an extra digit in '72. The first digit was a "T"..

Example:

TKE240J360066

1972 Cheyenne Super 20 2WD, DK Blue/White, 90K ACT. miles, 402, TH400, 4.10 open, tilt, tach, vacuum, A/C, AM/FM, manual throttle.. A mostly original paint never rusted Texas survivor...

2017 Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD, Black, 45k miles, 5.3, 6L80E, 3.42 LS, 20" polished wheels, everything but moonroof and 6.2...

2019 Canyon SLT 4WD, White, 62k miles, 3.6, 8L45, 3.23 LS, 18" wheels

I have done that for Chevrolet, never seen one for GMC ???
