Exhaust tips

Alright guys... need some ideas for exhaust tips. The tips are going to exit (side by side) where the license plate would normally be on a sport bumper. If i get a "shorter" tip I will try to tuck the pipes up the best I can so they (the actual pipes) are not visible. I am also not opposed to longer ones, but I would like to the tips to fill the hole and still look "correct". Anyone have any ideas? Here's a few I'm looking at, but I'm open to suggestions, as long as the suggestion isn't the standard 3.5" round chrome slash cut.

Re: Exhaust tips

SmashingChuck-
This would take a bit of work, but it may enhance the look. The rear sport bumper could be sectioned where the opening of the license plate area is proportionally increased with respect to the width of the bumper. Then, an aluminum backplate rolled inwards at the bottom could be fab'ed with the cutouts for the exhaust tips. To get fancy, the additional cutouts on the backplate could be filled with mesh. Of course, the backplate could be left solid and painted black to match the truck or maybe satin to match the satin inserts of the Intros. I've included the p'chop as a visual. I know you mentioned you didn't want the "standard 3.5" round chrome slash cut", but the ones pictured are doubled-walled 4", angled cuts. But seriously, the cutouts on the backplate could house rolled square, oval, or oblong tips. I'm partial to traditionally-looking double-wall, round, angle tips.

Re: Exhaust tips

I always wondered what a bumper would look like if someone were to weld the cutout portions from a late 60's 442 , or something similar , to the lower portion of a sport bumper . Just a few inches on either side of the license plate cutout . Then smooth it and have it rechromed . Then one of those round Magnaflow tips in each cutout .

Re: Exhaust tips

Frank, are you talking about doing it like just did on the new Ram? Not a bad idea..

Re: Exhaust tips

Frank-
I would prefer to do something like that, but the first time I accidentally aired my truck all the way up in front the tips would be toast, which is why I have to tuck them up where the plate would be.

Re: Exhaust tips

you can also get some ideas from corvette exhaust kits im sure they have something cool for those cars. if not find a shop that dose good stainless work and have them make you some square ones to go with the square look of the truck, my cousin has an exhaust place and we have this old guy that sometimes makes custom tips for us.
