New Engine
Hello All,
My 402 broke down the other day and it is hell to find a 402 replacement in a timely manner so I decided to go with a 350, 330HP HO Crate longblock. I will have to buy a new tranny to go with this of course. I got the engine with 0 miles for 2200 bucks which is the best deal I can find. This will give me time to rebuild the original 402 myself as time permits and in the mean time I will be thumping the pavement with the HO 350! What do you guys think about these engines?

Why do you need to buy a new tranny?

2 reasons,
1.) It will not fit the 350 engine. 2.) I want a overdrive gear so I will not rev the heck out of it going down the highway. The truck has 3.73:1 gears and smaller than stock tires. At 65 MPH I am at 3900 RPM's........too high. I would change the tranny even if it would fit.

Where did you buy the engine? Sounds like a good price.

That is what I have been told by several people. Do not ask me why because it would be a guess (splines, diameter etc. etc.)
I got it from United Engine builders located in Wichita, KS. Their website is: http://classicautoengines.com/

shawn, the transmission that you've got bolted to your 402 will mate up to the 350.
