Stock double hump X-member and 700r4.

Anyone running a stock double hump transmission crossmember with a 700r4? Seems with mine the x-member is to wide to fit in the frame and line up with the bolt holes. If I move the x-member toward the rear differential it seems to fit much better. In that position the transmission mount doesn't bolt up to the x-member because it is moved back.

So has anyone ran into this problem? I'm thinking about making a plate to bolt to the transmission mount. It will allow the x-member to be rearward and still work. It seems like that would work but I'm not sure about strength.
