Auto trans X-member question
There is a little do-hicky bolted on in the center of the crossmember.
Question 1-What is it for? Question 2-Does it go towards the front or rear? I'm switching from standard to automatic, and all I got was the crossmember (with the little do-hicky), so I never saw how it came out.

Re: Auto trans X-member question
A picture would help greatly. A do-hicky to one person might be a thing-a-majiggy to someone else.

Re: Auto trans X-member question
Is the "do-hicky" like a metal loop that is bolted to the edge of the crossmember, in the center?
If so, that is the guide for the e-brake cable, so it route under the tranny and doesn't allow the cable to flap around when the e-brake is off. If that is what you are talking about, it goes to the rear.

Re: Auto trans X-member question
Are these what you are asking about? If so then there are two of them and yes they hold the e-cable. I have parted 20 or so trucks and i have only seen them on BB\th400 trucks though.

Re: Auto trans X-member question
Those are the brackets I was talking about. As for my '68, which was a 327/T400 setup, mine had one bracket and it was centered on the cross member. There was only one hole for it and looking at everything underneith, nothing had been touched.

Re: Auto trans X-member question
Yeah-that's the thing. My parts donor had a TH400, but a small block, so maybe that's why there is only one. Just one and bolted on in the center. Sorry about no picture, I have misplaced my camera
Thanks, guys
