Re: 1960-66 dually

i haven't seen a 60-66 but i know of a 67-72 style that used a long fleet bed with stepside fenders for the dually fenders. i think this would be a good period correct look.
I know JonZ has toyed with this idea and if you search i know he has posted some 60-66 dually renderings

Re: 1960-66 dually

I've seen it done with steel stepside fenders and fiberglass stepside fenders. Takes talent to work the steel one's , but the effect, WoW!

Re: 1960-66 dually

I think the stepside fenders would be the way to go, but IMO they would need to be sectioned to look right. Like aerotruk63 said, it takes talent to do it, but the end result would be worth it.

Re: 1960-66 dually

I had a rendering of a standard cab dually that used the stepside fenders, it really looked like it belonged that way. I dont know where the rendering went, otherwise i would post it.

That is really interesting. Whoever widened that bed did a good job. I'm assuming there had to be wheelwells inside the bed?

The tailgate looks similar to this one. This is a Argentinian built model 1964-66. They were all built Panoramic View back glass.

Re: 1960-66 dually

Would the stock fleetside front panel bolt right up to the stepside bed side panels ?

I would like to see more of this truck. Do you have more pics?
I have seen the step side style bed on a dually before but it was a '57. it looked cool with fleetside inner fender wells.
I also have seen a factory dually that just had a sheetmetal flare under the rear wheel well. The truck was a '61 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 and had dual adapters. It looked really cool too.

That's interesting looking. I see it has a latch on each side of the tailgate, and different taillight and BU light setup.....so this is original for an Argentinian truck?

Re: 1960-66 dually

Rich Guasco of "Pure Hell" fame (AA/Fuel Altered) had a '60-'66 dually that used a late 80's - early 90's dually bed.
As I recall it had an injected 502 with an auto of some sorts. P/S, A/C, P/Seats, tilt etc... was very nicely done.

They even molded the body line from the later bed into the cab corners for a finished look.

You may be able to get info or pics from him.

I believe the website is www.purehellracing.com
