How many square bodies do you see a day?

It's amazing how many of these trucks are still out on the road. I'm an HVAC tech so I am on the road alot. I can count atleast 5 new square bodies a day on the road. From regular pickups to landscaping/contractor trucks. Even at the Air National Guard base here, we still have so many square bodies.

On top of that, this is New England, you would think these trucks would be mainly in the graveyard by now due to the harsh weather.

Can't say the same for similar year Ford and Dodge fullsize trucks.

Kind of a pointless topic but it's cool to see these trucks are still being used..... alot

Re: How many square bodies do you see a day?

It depends on the day. On any given day at least 5 but on a day there is a truck pull no less than 40.

Around my area I see maybe one a day. If I take a 20 minute drive to the country or city, I see a hell of a lot more.

Re: How many square bodies do you see a day?

I see several. There are a few right here on my block and I pass a few more on the way to work.....and those are just the ones that are parked in the same locations every time. There are lots of them running the streets too.

I see a handfull each day. Every week or 2 I see one that really surprizes me for one reason or another. (Survivor, Resto, or whatever. Even some that make you wonder what is holding it together still.)

I forgot about our Lot truck here at work. Its a haggard old LWB K20 with a plow set up on it year round. It rocks.

Several. And as stated you don't see as many Dodge or F@rds of the same vintage, or is it just that we don't notice or pay attention to them?

Re: How many square bodies do you see a day?

I see a couple dozen of them a day. These trucks are staples here in San Antonio. The people here still use them for commuting, work, family trucks...I think this has to be the most 73-87 per capita in the country. Even after seeing a bunch on the road, my local pick n pull is always fully stocked with them. Anyone up north wants a 73-87 C10, Blazer, Suburban, Crew Cab...look here first. You will save alot of time and money buying here and transporting it back. I got my 81 Stepside for $700 rust free running and driving. I got my 81 2wd Blazer for $1500 running and driving with a 350 010 block and 4 bolt mains, Holley Street dominator intake, Long tubes , and flowmasters already ran. It and a few litle things to touch up on but was a great deal non the less.

It's funny...if you have one, you seem to look alot more....call me crazy. You're right, in CT, NJ, NY they seem to be beat up a bit, but good to see alot of people appreciate the square chevy....every once in a while i see a cherry one....

There are tons of them around here. In all stages too. Wore out, nice drivers, restored originals, and modified ones. Plentiful abundance of both LWB, and SWB's, 2WD, and 4WD.

Re: How many square bodies do you see a day?

whenever I look out my bedroom window there is a cab always sitting there

I see 5-10 a day on average, and in all stages aswell. Some work trucks, daily drivers, weekend wood haulers, trail rigs, drag trucks, and even a couple lowered street trucks every now and then.

Re: How many square bodies do you see a day?

1) Good question; i saw 4 randomly on tues. These were un-restored also. i mean, you may see a 57 chevy every now and then, but these are usually restored hot-rods going to a show or something. i'll probably see at least one today and my commute is only 9 miles.

My local fire dept. still uses one. And, i was in ohio about three weeks ago and apparently the army (nat'l guard?) still uses them. i didn't have my camera handy, but they were using it like it was no big deal; It was probably older than many of the soldiers, including the one driving it.

2) No, i don't think so in my case; i saw a 79ish F-150 about 2 weeks ago; i tend to notice any older "non-current" vehicles. And older chrsyler+ford pickups are definitely not common everyday sights like GM.

3) What i am also noticing is that new diesel crew cabs (ford, chry-co and gm silverado/sierra) are the big thing now. People don't seem to have a problem plunking down 40-50K and driving the hell out of them.
