Re: What's your fuel Mileage?
I had one but it was messed up by the past owner and was only getting 5 mpg on good day so got a rebuilt quadra jet and no luck couldn't get it tuned wright so I took it to a couple old school mechanics no luck it do good for a wile then next day it will bog down like crazy and spit and sputter, but I'm saving for a new carb so then I should be getting 8 or better

Stock 454 with a TH400:
10 mpg on a good day. 10 mpg on a bad day 10 mpg highway. 10 mpg city. 10 mpg empty. 10 mpg loaded. Did I miss anything? Last edited by 78 Big10 454; 07-22-2009 at 01:17 AM. |

Best of 19.5 MPG at 70 MPH ZZ4 355+ HP, 2500 stall, custom 700R4, 3.08, 255/60R15tires. A ton of body, engine and weight reduction work. Torque baby!!! |

Re: What's your fuel Mileage?
22 mpg on the highway; it's an 87 V6, 4 speed manual overdrive (I think it's a .70 or .73 overdrive) and 3.73 rear axle.
I haven't checked mileage around town. K

Re: What's your fuel Mileage?
I do about 2 gallons per mile..
No, but seriously, I haven't done a real calculation, but I can't be getting better than 10 mpg... Mild 350, rv cam, headers, duals, 750 Edelbrock, th400, 3.73's... I'll be switching to TBI in the near future. MPG's should improve.

383ci, 750cfm edel carb, m21 4 speed, 3.42 gears and 28" tall tires. I usually average around 15-16mpg mixed hwy/city. Usually around 17 on the highway. I bet I could break 20 with an overdrive!

7-9 around town last I checked. Have since changed my rear end and tires. I think it improved a little...I might be up to 8-10 in town now!
I have an old 350, super low 4 speed, unknown rear gears, on 245/60/15s.

Re: What's your fuel Mileage?
Around town, no hard numbers, it varies from descent to terrible, depending on which gear I stay in and how light or heavy my right foot becomes at any given time. On the highway, most I could get out of a 120 mile trip was 10 mpg. But, if I was concerned about mileage, I sure wouldn't have built this particular engine....671 blown and injected 383, manual/reverse TH 400 with brake, 4.56 rear with 31" tires.
