20 series rear drum removal tool?
Well I have been fighting this thing for the last hour in the heat, and just about melted away trying to get the darn drum off.
What I'm workin on is my 68 K20 burb Eaton. I removed the axle shaft, and the two nuts and washers. Started out the drum was stuck on the shoes, so I managed to adjust them down as far as the adjuster will go. The drum now turns freely, and there isn't anymore friction noises or resistance. Still the drum makes no visual attempt to come off. Looking at my manual, there is a photo of a tool being used that looks like a slide hammer being bolted to the hub. But it looks like that is only used on the bigger trucks? Do I need this? Am I missing something? It's been years since I have monkey'd with the trucks rear breaks. Looking up other threads on here, everyone seems to have the drum come right off as soon as they do all of what I have done so far. Any help much appreciated! Chris

The slide hammer would serve to yank the hub straight off the spindle. Could be the hub bearings are very worn with the inside of the inner races stuck on the spindle. Rust is also a remote possibility.
In lieu of a slide hammer, reinstall the wheel/tire to give you some leverage. You can kick the tire all around and grab it to exert more force on the hub as you pull.

Re: 20 series rear drum removal tool?
Was able to remove it by tapping the bearing, and then smacking the drum around with a BFH.
Found that there were busted springs inside that had the shoes jammed open, which added to the struggle in getting this thing to come off. Thanks!
