Finally Got him back!

Hey guys/girls! My name is Bill and when i was 17 (13 years ago) i bought a 1987 Sierra Classic 1500 2wd. I then, being young, decided about 1-2 years later that I really wanted a Camero and then a VW Jetta came my way. All this time I had given my Sierra (chuck) to my father to use for camping purposes. It has remained in our family since the time i bought it 13 years ago and has been through a paint job, 2 engine replacements, and engine overhaul.

Dad said he would always give him back to me when he was done with camping. He retired and mom JUST retired and they sold their 5th Wheel camper and was done with camping. Well they still didnt give him up and actually threaten to sell him thinking that "you really don't need this truck". I talked them out of that and then turned around to find out my wife's gift to me for our anniversary was CHUCK!! She had saved up enough money (giving plasma and such) to have enough gas money to drive him from Wabash, Indiana to Moberly, MO (about 500 miles). Had a friend look at him last night and found that the main seal is leaking...and the transmission is slipping. I do not believe my dad every changed any tranny fluid, not to mention the truck temp is running 210 (according to the guage) which i heard will make the tranny slip if it has old fluid in it.

Either way he is coming back into my possession finally!

Here is his stats and I will get pictures up when I officially have it...SPEAKING OF IF YOU ARE COMING THIS WAY AND WANT TO TOW IT FOR ME...LET ME KNOW!! WDS128@CCCB.EDU

87 Sierra classic 1500
2wd
chevy 350 Engine
Not 100% sure ..Turbo 350 tranny
Grey with black strip ext
Grey interior
Original everything else
Dual Gas tank

Thank you for having me and I hope that I will be posting here for a long time.

Bill

Re: Finally Got him back!

Thank you for the welcomes!! I am glad to have him back also and Cannot wait to actually get him here...if you are willing to tow him..anyone...I have some money to get him here....

I will put that date on the calendar...however it is 3 hours away from where i am at. I will also be in school at the time it is going on also.

Either way I am very grateful for everyone's input and any info i have. I am also thinking of trying to just replace the tranny fluid and filter and put a lower temp thermostat in it to see if that cures my problems.

Re: Finally Got him back!

Just found out tonight that Dad kept all the info from when we first bought it. We have the original owner (construction company in Ohio) and the original bill of sale from it also. Along with this we have the form that went in the window that told price and what it had on it. All the books...all the history...this is exciting!!
