Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

Just cut up a set of '54 GMC fenders.

Don't worry, they were rusted beyond repair.

I also sold my wrecked 2007 Escalade ESV that I was going to use as a donor car for an engine swap. See, because the car wasn't sold in CA originally it won't pass inspection, which is BS because it is equiped with California legal emissions equipment.

Sprayed all my weeds. Straightened out some hubcaps for my buddies 66. And we are going shopping later for some household things. No truck stuff today though.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

I personally didn't get much done besides a lot of research. There are several things I am considering as upgrades on my 77 that needed to be looked in to. Still looking for answers there.

On the other hand my buddies Keith and Roger where a blur of progress on my truck. By mid day on Friday they had the front suspension changed out. They moved so quickly, I didn't get a progress report until the wheels were back on.

What you don't see is the stock A-arms have been replaced with a complete set of ART Strong Arms and an ART heavy duty Musclebar kit.

Before and after-

On Saturday they moved to the rear. The bed came off and tear down began. The frame rails were stripped of the leaf spring hangers in preparation for the ART Airbar 4 link system.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

The front 4 link brackets mounted in the existing holes. The restr of the assembly bolted to the axle. Unfortunately the original C-Notch with boxing plates had to be removed. That required 18 holes to be drilled to install the new C-notch.

No progress on the truck. Had to work this weekend, so nothing exciting here.

Nice progress Ken. Making an amazing truck even better.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

The existing mounting points for the tank rack were saved. The exhaust system will probably need to be modified. The wrong panhard bar bracket was sent with the kit so the panhard bar couldn't be installed to check for clearance.

While I didn't get a lot done Keith and Roger had a very active weekend. Thanks to my buddies for moving forward. Special thanks to Roger at RPL Customs for making room in his very hectic schedule to take this project on.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

Finally got the motor set in between the rails. Gonna try to get the core support and inner fenders painted this week and have the truck on the road by next weekend. BTW, N2TRUX, I'm in love with your shovelay.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

Busy weekend. Picked up the Heap from a friends body shop at midnight Friday night. My buddy fixed the cab corners and made the roof straight again. I spent Saturday getting the fenders off the bed and repairing cross sills. With the cab corners and roof repaired the cab is pretty much ready for paint. I have the next 2 weeks to get everything else ready for a date with the paint booth on Saturday the 15th.

You guys will have to wait until I'm done for pictures!

Haha! The dash is fine. I actually took the time to rebuild the original tube radio, so when the truck is done it will be functional. I'll probably never use it, but thats beside the point.

I plan to do a secret audio system int he truck using all modern, top end components, but it will never be seen.

Right now I'm saving up money to finally finish the truck. I have a friend who may agree to do the body work for real cheap, then once I get some color on it, I'll be out driving it.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition

I forgot to throw out a big thank you to BigBlock73 for selling a quality product, the 6X9 speaker panels. Another thanks to Captain K for quick shipping on a pair of the custom door panels. Spent a few bucks with some other board vendors too. I'd better pay off my credit card before the wife opens a statement envelope. LOL.

Pulled everything off of the garage walls in preparation of paint. Don't know which color yet but I am leaning towards something bright.
