power window problem

The front windows on my truck go up and down no problem however the backs just go down they wont go up from any of the 3 swtiches, and only go down from the 2 rear switchs, i changed one of the rear switchs since it wouldnt go up at all the other side went up and down for a little bit before changing out the other switch but now they do the same thing only go down in the back and not up.

What the hell is the problem?

Re: power window problem

is there power to the motor?could be that there is junk in the track and its too much work for the motor to push the window up.... does the interior lite dim when y ou try to put the window up?
If so it is either in the motor or the track

Re: power window problem

Idk if the lights dim i dont have all the interior back int he truck, but the motor only hums when u try to put the window down, i hate to pull the motor out cause its such a nightmare on these trucks to put the window motors in especially when u cant move the winodw to make it go bck on the track.

Was hoping maybe it was a switch problem but i have no idea at this point but i am starting to hate these year trucks.

Re: power window problem

If the motor is humming when you hit the switch it has power. Sounds like either a wiring issue or 1 or more switches are bad. I don't know about these vehicles, but my '86 mustang had an issue like this (the rear quarter windows wouldn't go down) and it actually turned out to be the "master" switch in the driver's door that was causing the issue.

Good luck...I hate electrical gremlins.

Re: power window problem

had the same type of problem on a '88 suburban
as nlped stated it was the main switch on the driver's door
just can't remember exactly what was the problem.....broken switch or broken wire?
