need opinions on rims
I think that I want to get Boss 338's in gun metal for my truck. I can't decide if I want to get 20's in back with 18's in front, or if I should just get 20's all the way around.
any thoughts, suggestions, or pics of trucks with similar setups? here is a pic of my truck and a pic of the rims. |

Re: need opinions on rims
your going to want 20s all around. with out laying frame 18, 20 combo makes the front rims look like 15s.
I think that the gunmetal or black would look killer with your truck. Nice truck and good luck

Re: need opinions on rims
do you by chance have a pic of something like that? I couldnt find one in the huge picture thread but i don't have too much time here at work to browse.
The fact I cant find an example makes me think you are right about it looking funny. |

Re: need opinions on rims
I agree with Cherub. I was considering the same thing on mine. On cars you can get away with the staggered look because they are so low. Trucks don't look as good, unless they are slammed like Cherub stated. The 338's are an awesome looking wheel, and the gunmetal color will look sweet against the yellow.

Re: need opinions on rims
Be aware that they are in the process of redesigning those wheels. Current production wheels WILL NOT clear your hubs. They are aware of this problem and are in the process of making changes.
To answer original question, 73-87 have a large front fender opening. A staggered 18/20 or 20/22 looks odd (in my opinion) unless the truck is slammed on top of it. Some examples.

Re: need opinions on rims
B13B3R, those wheels will look great on your truck. Can't wait to see the pics. How much are a set of 20's if you don't mind me asking? I think they would look good on my dads' truck. Two tone blue/gray with porterbuilt front and rear(installing now).

Re: need opinions on rims
simple my dear watson, (ahaha, we have a funny guy, )
it is actually simple though, once your done, hit the prt sc (print screen) button on you computer, its usually above the num pad, or on a laptob integrated into the [insert] button, once done, either go to photoshop, or even paint, paste it and crop it, boom, have your pic, hope this was simple enough to figure out Last edited by texasfunk; 08-14-2009 at 01:05 AM. |

Re: need opinions on rims
Be aware that you NEED to test fit the fronts before you mount a tire on the wheel. There is a major issue with the current model not fitting our trucks without a LOT of fabrication and spacers. They are in the process of redoing the wheel to correct this fitment issue, but if you get the current model and you mount a tire on it, Boss will not let you return them.
I am in the process of waiting for the new design myself, but it will not be available until late Aug. or early Sept. If your shop tells you they are waiting for this then you should be all good. Cheers, Ed Last edited by nlped; 08-14-2009 at 09:51 AM. |

Re: need opinions on rims
Don't mount those front tires on the rims,... or you'll own a set of wheels that fit nothing on this planet.
There's a huge problem with most all of the 338's fitting any vehicle with the 5x5 pattern and some of the car patterns also. Look at this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=352320. I own 4 of these wheels,... and I'm waiting on a reply from Boss to get this straightened out.

Re: need opinions on rims
Yeah, the only thing that the current 5x5 BOSS 338's fit are the newer Jeep Grand Cherokee. YUCK!!!

B13B3R, did you order the gray or black center like the photshop?
Good photshop Aaron! I like the black centers.

Re: need opinions on rims
Have they gotten the fitment issue resolved yet? As to say if I were to order some today (12/18/09) would they fit?
