Manual vs Automatic with Nitrous

What percentage of guys are running manuals vs. automatics at the drag track that have street/strip N02 vehicles? Is there a significant cost difference between the two other than the transmission? 97% of my driving will be on the street. Below is my config, please make your recommendations or spec out some parts. I personally enjoy using the clutch but have never used nitrous. The reason I am asking, it seems the manual transmission would require a herky/jerky NO2 squirt between shifts. How is this controlled? Thanks!

Well you will be more consistant with the TH400, but you will have more fun with the T56. Not sure the T56 will hold up though.

What mods do you have to hook? How are you getting 650-750 hp (thats a big range)?
How much nitrous? and what kind of kit?

If you setup a WOT switch along with a window switch you wont have any problems with shifting and "herky/jerky".

You can have a t56 built for that kind of power. When you talk about a manual being jerky, do you breaking loose on shifts?

I have a T56 in my turbo Camaro. Expecting over 1k rwhp but I'm shooting for a sub 3k weight with me in it.

I'm still in the design/build stage.

Mods planned:
new sheet metal
lighter hood
fuel cell(s)/battery/bottle in rear part of box
front trailing arms lowered 5-6"
rear bumper weighted
push engine back and elevated, but not in firewall
stock shocks and springs
slicks when its time to hook

Engine is partially assembled but includes:
AFR315 cnc'ed
288HR comp cam
10.4 cr
91-92 octane
NO2 100-250 shot planned

The 6 speed kit for our trucks is due to be released in the next 3-6 months from Classic Motorsports Groups

Can you spec out some parts so I can do some further research utilizing a manual trans? I'm still interested on what you are seeing at the drag track ie manual vs automatic for street/strip/NO2 vehicles. Is it an 80/20 split, or a 95/5 split? I've also heard of a ramped spray when in the 250-300 hp shot which is easier on the engine, again I am looking for P/N's to do further research. Thanks.

I run a t56 in my camaro with ~500rwhp and a 200 shot fogger on top of that. Like said above, a window switch and throttle switch are all ya really need. There's also plenty of good progressive controllers (brings on the spray slowly instead of one big hit) out there that will work as a window switch too, NOS brand makes a good one.

Just know that until you become a REALLY good driver, you're not going to be near as consistent at the track with a manual as you'd be with a "stab 'n' steer". Getting it to launch consistently (especially on the hose) isn't easy! And remember you should only be moving your left foot during shifts.

I don't have specific P/N on nitrous controllers, but NX and NOS both have them, check out their websites. They aren't that cheap though. If you run EFI you could always go with the Harris Speed Works Microedge. Awesome little box.
