Hello from Minnesota
Hey All,
Just found the site a couple days ago, and looked like a good source of information. Thought I'd join on. Name's Tom, live in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Have a 1985 Chevy K-10, owned it since '98. Got it from my uncle, who was the original owner. Has the 305 V8 with a Quadrajet carb. 700r4 auto trans, 3:08 gears. Put a custom cat-back muffler/pipe set on it a few years ago, but not much else for modifications. Always seem to be fighting something just to keep it going, which takes prioroty over modifications sadly. Don't get to take it off-pavement very much, but keep hoping for opportunities. Use it to pull my snowmobiles around when my wife and I go riding in the wintertime. Had to replace the rotted-away inner and outer front fenders. Still should replace the radiator core support if I get enough motivation. Been looking into paint options, since the 3 years of running around in primer has really taken it's toll on those front fenders, they look pretty bad, but at least solid! Have a few other vehicles as well, a 97 Olds Cutlass, a 94 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi, and a 84 Buick Regal T-Type. Like to wrench on stuff, but enjoy it more when it's not an emergency-type situation, more fun when you can take your time and maybe enjoy a cold beverage or two! |

Re: Hello from Minnesota
Thanks for all of the greetings. Looking forward to seeing you all around the forums. Upcoming truck projects for me are likely to be some rust patching/repair, and I seriously considering a D.I.Y. paintjob, on the cheap.
Undoubtedly, there will be other things along the way, keeping these old trucks going seems to require a certain amount of dedication and stubborn-ness, LOL!!! It's always nice to stumble across some more people that have the experience and knowledge to hel you thru the various tasks that come up. Looking forward to sharing what I know, as well. |
