torsion bar questions
So I'm in a scramble to slam my truck for billetproof tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone has been able to re-index the torsion bar or t bar key so they don't hang so slow. Hss anyone taken a tbar off completely? I'm trying to get the truck as low as possible

Re: torsion bar questions
My only experience with removing the bars came when I pulled the suspension out of my 1960 to swap in a 1975 crossmember. While the t-bars were still in the truck, I whacked away with a 2 lb hammer and got nowhere. I tried heating up the mount and that didn't help. Ultimately I pulled out the entire suspension with the bars still attached. Once the whole thing was sitting on the garage floor, I was curious how tight those bars really were.
I clamped a heavy bolt in place to use as a drift, and whacked away with a 10 lb sledge hammer. They never budged. My truck was an original owner rig with barely 100k on the clock and was in remarkable condition, and that was 10 years ago. You may have better luck, but I wouldn't hold a lot of hope for reindexing being an easy solution. |
