OT , but I just had to share my good fortune!

so I had my model t hot rod for sale on cl, I wanted $5500, and had $3500 in it (got a bunch of stuff free, or the build would have been about 2-3k more)
A guy came and looked at it, and said he would take it, he had driven 6 hrs one way to look at it.
He wanted to write a check, which was a flag for me, so I took him to my bank to see if they could tell if it was any good. they would not honor a check from his bank, and after he made a few calls it turned out that he could only write $2500 a day, it was a courtesy check for a credit card.
so he ended up going home empty handed..

***always be careful when dealing with big transactions..cash talks****

so a couple days later a different guy calls and wants to do a trade..just put something up for sale because you want money, and everybody and thier friend wants to trade you something for it-I can't count how many trades I have turned doen on this car...

Anyway this guy has a 1990 corvette convertible he wants to trade for it!
he drove the vette 3 hours one way to come look at the T. Called me the next day and the deal was done!

These 'vettes only book out around 5-9k, but I never thought I would ever own a corvette!
Of course, my wife has comandeered it, so technicaly I still don't own one

Man I was hoping to ride in the T when I come back up there. (whenever that would be) As long as everyone is happy I call it a good trade.

Re: OT , but I just had to share my good fortune!

yeah.. I was thinking of that one on here with all the vette drivetrain...
I could never get the cooling system figured out on the T . It would heat up after 10 miles of interstate driving, around town, it would cool all day long..., so I trailered it over to the guy;and gave him a list of research I had done to fix the cooling system; I had just run out of money and paitence for that car...
when I wa in 5th grade my dad owned a 62 vette, for about 2 months, 327 4spd car man it was fun, he had to sell it to make the house payments though.., he got another , a 69 a couple years ago, but when the paperwork came in it turned out to have a salvage title, so he ended up selling that off too..I offered to give this one to him, but he said he is done with 'vettes!
