Wiw: 69 3/4t swb?
So I'm just about finished with project "No buck" I have a little more welding to do on the bed, finish putting in some bolts in the front clip, hook up the brake lights and parking brake.
I've decided I want to sell it cause I don't need two projects. It's a little hard to say what this beast is worth since you don't find to many 3/4 ton SWBs This is not a for sale ad: 350 w/ HEI and edelbrock carb power steering manual drum brakes dana 60 rear granny low 4 speed crushed in drivers rocker and the typical lower half rust in the floor/cab corners/cab supports/etc. There is also rust in the cowl area. If I were to keep this and restore it, I would find a new cab. New pressure treated wood floor with new metal strips I'll be getting some newer tires that have some decent life on them. Here are some pics. As for the body, I'm not really planning on painting/mudding/etc. Don't have time. you can also read my build thread if you want to see how I did the frame cut. So lets hear the opinions: |

Re: Wiw: 69 3/4t swb?
I have never seen a 3/4 ton swb. Since the factory didnt build them what is the point?
I cant imagine there is too much of a market for it. Any buyer would probably just rip the suspension out and install 1/2 ton stuff. You say the cab will most likely need replaced. So i say in this market you would be lucky to get $2K out of it.

It has been my experience that projects are a tough sell even in the best of circumstances. I would at least make it drivable and fix the welds where you shortened the bed befor you put it on the market. Those two things will go a long ways toward preserving the value and moving the truck. As for the value as it stands right now, it would be hard to say.
good work should bring good money, but it doesn't always happen that way. WES

Does it have the Corvette option?

Re: Wiw: 69 3/4t swb?
What you have is a truck that will appeal to a limited market. Most people will want a 1/2 ton swb truck verses a 3/4 ton swb truck but...be patient as there are always those who think outside the box and will desire something unique. Like WES said...in these times the market is way down so to sell a partially complete project will be a challenge at best. Best of luck

Re: Wiw: 69 3/4t swb?
yeah, I'm going to finish the bed and make it driveable before I put it up for sale (that's why I'm posting this now as a WIW thread instead of in the for sale section).
My goal for this week is to get it "finished" |

Re: Wiw: 69 3/4t swb?
Not sure what the market out there is, but right now, I think the 2k one is in the ball park. If it were me, and I was looking (kinda am, but you are too far) I would rather have had the 3/4 long bed, but then again, i'm looking for a work truck.

Re: Wiw: 69 3/4t swb?
Locally there is a shortbed 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive. (shortened frame). It has been lowered and sits real nice. At 1st glance you don't realize its has 8 lug wheels. It gave tehm some variety on wheels that no one else had on a truck like this. Was 454 motor also. Supposedly drove nice and firm. Haven't seen it for a couple of yrs but was something no one else had.
I also agree on limited market and realitvely low value until more work is done. Times seem to be getting harder on car people recently. make sure you are enjoying your efforts, that always helps.
