Re: Need help picking a posi
I have an Auburn in mine.....it has held up very well. I shattered the rear in my truck launching on the bottle almost 2 years ago and that is the only part I did not have to replace. Still going strong..

Re: Need help picking a posi
I've had both Eaton and Auburn and prefer the Eaton. Eaton is rebuildable and hooks straighter.

Re: Need help picking a posi
I put an Auburn in my a DD '92 C1500 5.7/5 spd that I took to the track every now and then. I liked it because it was smooth and didn't make any noise. I had 3.73's, Lakewood traction bars and a 4" rear drop and it hooked pretty good.

Re: Need help picking a posi
I appreciate the input. How about gears? I heard Richmonds whine and break a lot. I was told Motive gears are the way to go.

Re: Need help picking a posi
i used Yukon gears in my '92 when I put in the Auburn. they were quiet too, and I never had any problems out of them either. I've never used Motive or Richmond.

Re: Need help picking a posi
If set up properly, gears should not whine regardless of manufacterer.

I did break a set of Richmond street gears transbrake launching in the 3380 pound truck running low 12's, but have never had a seconds issue with the Richmond 9" Pro gear run in my low 9second Nova. I don't know if it's design or case flex but I have heard of more gears breaking in the GM 12bolt housing than the other popular differential cases (Dane & 9" ).
