My patience for a nice 4X4 paid off, finally!
I have been looking for a clean, straight, rust free 72 or under Blazer or SWB 4X4 truck for several years, every time I found one they turned out to be junk. It's amazing how many sellers I came across that flat out lied about their truck, recently I drove 160 miles to look at a 70 4X4 that the seller said was straight and rust free, when I got there I found a dented up, rust covered pile of feces, it of course had rust in the cab corners and rockers and everywhere else! even the front fender wells where Swiss cheese! He wanted $2800, I offered $1000, the guy laughed and told me he was adding some rims and will get $3800 in no time! Uh huh.
After all the miles I covered in my search, the one I finally bought was two miles away, I even knew the guy I bought it from. I ended up with a perfectly straight, absolutely rust free 72 GMC K/1500, It has a rebuilt 350, automatic and came with an extra transfer case. Brand new tires and a 4" Lift (I'm not sure is I like lifted truck yet) It is very tight and goes down the road really smooth. I am glad I was patient! Here is a pick from the Craigslist ad, I haven't had a chance to take my own pictures yet. I was able to talk the guy down $1000, (he was asking $3500) I am happy. The drivers door has been replaced but they did a nice job fitting it, all the gaps are perfect. I did remove the bug deflector and tool box, I'm just not cool enough for a bug deflector! Now, what color to paint it? |

I think he said he talked him down $1,000, so i'm guessing he paid $2500... good deal for a rust free running truck. In my area that would have been $4500 or more.

Even at 2500.00 he got a good deal. It's amazing what they are asking for junk around here. Granted most of it has very little rust, but still junk for crazy prices.

Yes, I paid $2500, I probably would have given him the full $3500 if he didn't budge though. It's getting tough to find anything decent out there, people either want tens of thousands for a painted truck or thousands for a rusty dent. I'm glad I acted fast on this one.
