Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
When out and about, I always look for our trucks. Lately though, I am seeing more and more for sale at local car lots. In years past it was unusual to find one on a car lot. On Friday, I drove thru Morristown and saw 3 for sale at 3 different car lots.
So, is this a sign of the times or what? Anyone else spotting an abundance of trucks for sale? RD |

A lot of people are in dire straits right now, and will be for a couple of years to come. People are having to sell their old cars and trucks that in good times would never even consider selling them. Feel very lucky if you are not touched by this... LockDoc

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
I have not seen a lot on car lots, but there are quite a few showing up on Craigslist here in Southeast Missouri.
A lot of them are already restored so I guess people are feeling the pain of the economy and selling off there extra vehicles. No matter what the politicans are saying the real people in the country are hurting and the economy is still in the dumps. Danny

But this "economy thing" has me baffled. Last week I called 3 different places that do poured basement walls. None of them called me back with a quote, & I ended up calling them again. Only 2 gave me a quote after the second call...never heard from the third. At, that their price was over 13K for a 30x36x10' high walls no slab. That's 41 yds of crete = $4,100, so they were trying to get $8K to "install" forms & pour. Neither offered me any type of deal or price reduction. I did the homework on 12" block & can get the job done, rebar and fill all the block and do the slab for a little over $10K. The block is in my opinion more labor intensive, but will be $5K less than poured. Times are tough, and I would think contractors and such would be ready to work and cut a wee bit of slack on their prices......strange that they are not. RD |

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
Yes,as Leon said,it`s a sign of the times...hard times.my corral has quite a few less in it,30 year parts stash depleted, and progress is about nil on my project (the only one I kept). It get`s to the point you consider selling all.Priorities can swap around on ya.But,this is one thing that keeps me happy and partially sane. You have to do something. And,I could not get by without my`72.it`s my savior as something I can always drive, fix, afford. It`s more than a hobby or they`d all be gone right now.

Well put Tim. My truck isn't costing me anything sitting there in the shop. I work on it when I feel like it. Spend money on it when I think I can. It is therapy for me.

I agree with Leon, I can attest to the dire straits or near dire straits. I was laid off in February and just now finally found work. We pulled through this but we are gonna have to relocate to do so. I see alot of stuff for sale that you would normally not see around here. Tough times........

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
We've been lucky enough to avoid the layoffs, but have not had a bonus or raise in 2 years now, "extra" money we relied on and it has been tight...
so with that being said.... I'm not gonna lie, I've thought about sellin' Screamin' on a few occasions...usually on the month to year long breaks you guys see between my posts. I use this board as a sanity check of sorts, gather some motivation, go out and charge up the old battery and drive her around a bit.... Then I start eyeballin' the F150 and its $500.00 a month payments....care to wager a bet on which will be goin' bye bye first

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
I've been seeing a lot of them driving around and a lot of them on craigslist. I just got mine off c/l cheap because the guy needed the money for bills, or so he said.
I got mine though to be able to get rid of my '88. As soon as it is reliable the '88 is gone. This is a rough time for everyone and I think that I'm lucky because I'm an unemployed, full time student, and I can still live off of what I get from unemployment and my GI bill. We've cut back on some stuff, but we are gonna be fine. I feel bad for a lot of people that are worse off than us. But I can't see selling my trucks, at least not right now. If times get real tuff then I might, but it's not likely. Best advice I can give to everyone is don't use credit. Pay for everything with cash if you can, no matter what it costs. You'll be better off that way. Good luck to us all, and don't give up on your trucks. Your truck is payed for, sell something else that is a bill first.

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
I agree... economy...
My wife and I are doing OK, but me not working has really hit us this year. I have a list of tools/parts I've been wanting to buy for some time (over a year now). We have a good chunk of change in the bank, but I'm afraid to spend any of it, I have no clue when I'll be making good $ again.

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
Two of my good friends lost their houses. Both of them have a new trucks with huge payments 07 F350 and 07 2500 and a bunch of toys. Few years back they were laughing at me for being cheap and driving old cars. My daily driver is a 94 jap truck.

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
I just bought a 1972 2wd Blazer project that would never been offered except that he lost his job. He had already dumped a 67 restored Camaro and a flawless 57 Chevy truck cab. The TV news can say what they want, it is still tough out here for some.

Re: Is it just me, or are a bunch of 67-72's popping up?
To answer your question without making any political statements,,YES we have them by the ton up here. the trucks that I see are not going for much but they still are not selling.
If ya want to sell a 67-72 up here,,ya better be willin ta take a beating. I bought a good ,very solid 72 1/2 ton longbed outa arkansas(originally),,with title ,no motor for $300. I just bought a rustbucket for parts, bed and cab were shot but frame and suspension were great good glass and lots of good parts, with an open title for $100. If my barn wasn't already full,,I would pick up a lot more ,but I am outa room. It's literally ,a buyer's paradise ,,but I feel for the people who have to unload something right now cause they are getting slaughtered and NO,,,I didn't beat these guys down on price,,they were glad to get what they got.-KB |
