'64 has no go?

My 64 GMC project is a pain to start and a hassle to move around the yard, mostly becuase when you hit the gas it dies, choke or no. You have to ease on the throttle for the rpms to rise. 230 L6. I had the carb off and rebuilt it even, didn't help the problem. Someone told me I was supposed to soak the accelerator pump in gas while doing that, but I didn't.... Could that really be the problem? I don't even see how it could be a vaccum leak theres only 1 vaccum line.... anyone else have any tips?

Did you check the float level when you had the carb apart , some of the internal passages may be plugged .was it soaked in carb cleaner at rebuid?

Re: '64 has no go?

Check for vacuum leaks at the carb base and at the intake to block gasket.
