I have a '73 c10 longbed. It only has the one tank on the passenger side. I am wondering if people are having the same problem fueling up that I have. It seems that no matter how I position the nozzle, gas ends up pouring out at me and down the side of my truck. I even pull back the rubber on the nozzle so no vapors build up, but I still get the same results. I end up having to tilt the nozzle, and SLOWLY fill up. My coffee maker drips faster than I can allow the fuel nozzle to drip. Is there any tricks or mods that I can do?

i dont.put it in and lay it all the way down(if not it wont stay clicked) i over filled it once and it went down the side.

but i hate that its soo low and my truck is lowerd so that dont help me filling it up

i used to flip it over and let it jamb upside down.

i made mine a tansfer tank style with a fuel cap on the bed rail and facing the sky.

Never had that problem except when using big rig diesel pumps, the nozzle is huge and fast, so it spills out...

ive had this problem on every 73-87 ive ever owned. i just fill it slow and you cant lock it on it will keep stopping or overfill everytime. its just something you figure out and deal with. i flip the nozzle upsidedown and rest it on the gas door found thats the easiest for me

2 tons of fun, Do you have a pic of your set up? Eventually I want to put a fuel door on the side of this truck, and when I do I want to try and make the filler neck as straight as possible. A cap in the top bed rail sounds like a cool idea too. I would just be worried about water getting in.

ive never had this prob on my truck and also never heard of n e 1 having tha same problem

it not a show truck, its a ugly 4x4 so its not going to be nice to look at.

i have a flapper lid on it, a drain hole to keep any thing from puddling up and the actual mouth sticks up .25"+.

seeing as how i busted the saddle tanks in the last truck and there is no room for it between the axle and the rear winch......

like i said, its a transfer tank style and not for show trucks.

no im not trying to say its a dumb idea.its a realy good one seeing that your saddle broke.do it lock at the top?

Ive never had a problem filling up but i did have a problem putting octane booster in but i solved that one

I have the same problem on both tanks on my 77. Luckily there is 1 station in town that doesn't have the vapor stuff so I get no drips.
