Detailed pics of brake line routing
Does anyone have detailed pics of their brake line routing, preferably from a 66. My lines were all trashed when I got the truck so I just pulled them off. The problem now is I don't have anything to compare the new pre-bent lines too. It's like a crazy jig saw puzzle. I need some serious help!

Re: Detailed pics of brake line routing
This book will show you everything you would ever need to know about putting your '66 back together. I suggest it as a "must" for anyone doing one of these trucks. Taking pictures of the actual routing is inferior to the illustrations in the manual.
Good luck with your brake lines and let us know how things work out. Happy Holidays. |

Thanks Tony, I actually have that book and I am trying to work with it but the drawings are not matching up with what I have. I am also converting to power disc from manual drums so that adds some complexity also.

Re: Detailed pics of brake line routing
When I converted to discs on my '62 I routed the lines like the late 70s donor truck and that worked well for me, just something to think about

I was basing my response on brake line routing for your '66, without knowing you were doing disk brakes, however, the routing is basically the same...regardless of disk or drums. Disks require a dual chamber master cylinder, in lieu of a single chamber master cylinder on the four wheel drum set-up. There is no hard/fast rules for routing when converting to disks on the front, therefore, you have the liberty to route them as you see fit or whatever is most economical. |

Re: Detailed pics of brake line routing
Well it turns out I think inline tube sent me the wrong kit or at least some wrong lines.I went back at it tonight and the fittin on the line that runs front to back is too big to fit in to the rear flex line! They also shorted me the coupler to connect the front to rear line(it's 2 pieces) again the fittings are too big for the couplers they sent me.
Highly fustrated!! I plan on calling them tomorrow and hopefully they will make things right. |

Re: Detailed pics of brake line routing
Ther are 2 differant sizes of lines for the back flexable line. I found this out the hard way. The local parts store had both in stock but just my luck i got the wrong one first. Hope this help out a little to fix the flexable line issue. On the other fittings i know the company should have given you everthing, but it looks to be a quick fix at your local parts store for real cheap.
