Help on dissassembling doors
I'm tearing the rusty doors off of my truck and putting new ones on, the new ones are shells except for the vent window, so i need to transfer all of the other internals and window to the new door. Is there a write up on this? I have the assembly manual but its a pain to use and only has pictures. I currently cannot get the doorstops off, im guessing due to rust.... Any help is appreciated!

Re: Help on dissassembling doors
I have found the best method to strip or reset the door internals is to remove it from the truck and lay it flat on it's skin. I use a panel jack, like the ones the body shop uses. By doing so, it keeps the parts from falling to the bottom of the door and makes things more accessible.
The key, I have found, it to be patient...if not, forcing something, makes things difficult. I would be glad to walk you through the process over the phone, if you like. While typing this reply, I realized how much information is needed to explain the process adequately. In closing, it is not that difficult with a little coaching, so let me know if I can help and good luck with your doors. Happy Holidays. |
