Re: Cummins 6BT Swap
ya the 6bt is rated at 302 hp and in the range of 500-600lb tq so it would be doubling the 6.2s power while taking of 2 cylinders
if you do find one with a tranny behind it its easier that way

Re: Cummins 6BT Swap
I love GM trucks. Period. BUT, if I had the oppertunity I would swap the 6.2 out for a 6BT. You would be silly not to. The 6BT is a million times better than the 6.2 If anyone telly you otherwise it is because they have not owned both and dont really know the difference.

Re: Cummins 6BT Swap
How about a 4-71 Detroit, supercharged, turbocharged, and intercooled backed by a Roadranger 13 speed trans?

Diesels rock
http://forum.neow.net/index.php?show...862&hl=cummins If it can fit in a S10 why not your truck! Search Youtube. You'll find some great 6BT videos. |

Re: Cummins 6BT Swap
You can use a NV4500 5spd or a NV5600 6spd from a Cummins powered dodge, the autos too exept the 07.5 and up aisin & dodge trans. I say go with a Cummins, milage is just as good with better power & no glow plugs to deal with, better injection pump, & they go 700,000 miles easy (i dont know what that whould be in KM)

He is a member here as well but not very active. His user name is Aramp1. Here is his build thread on ColoradoK5. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212269 But I will post a few more pics. I have always liked his truck... but it just keeps getting better and better.

Re: Cummins 6BT Swap
Your best bet is to get a Complete cummmins dodge manual drive traind and convert your truck to hydraulic clutch (87 and up) had hydraulic. You will loce the Overdrive from the NV4500.
This route will also be the least expensive as the adapters are quite expensive. There are places that sell the mounts ( http://www.autoworldmt.com/ ) The stock power will be far beyond the 6.2 will ever be capable of modified. The 94-98 12V have hydraulic clutch, I am not sure about the 1989-1993 12V. |

Re: Cummins 6BT Swap
Why would someone want to waste a truck on a 2-stroke Detroit?
