Rear leaf spring factory recall in late 90's
Does anyone remember a factory recall for rear leaf spring replacement on 3/4 ton pickups? I was a mechanic for Chevrolet for 33 years and for the life of me I can't remember why they replaced the springs. I would think Keith would know or be able to find out what the issue was. I must have changed a dozen sets under the recall. Thanks for any info. Jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |

Re: Rear leaf spring factory recall in late 90's
The only thing that comes to mind was when the little plastic isolator on the ends would fall out, resulting in a squeak.
IIRC the fix was a new snap in insulator with better retention features. Is that the one? K

Re: Rear leaf spring factory recall in late 90's
Keith, thanks for the quick reply, but no thats not the one. They actually replaced both rear leaf sets. I don't have the contacts anymore to search back and find out the why. I have a set I "recovered" ok stole, out of the scrap bin and I need new rear springs. The set I have in mine now are for a ton and a half and needless to say they have no "give" what-so-ever. If anyone can find out I would be greatful. Jim
