this is my first time doing this, im swapping cabs so i need help on removing my steering column, all the pedals and other underdash stuff. any tips or steps on how to remove these things would be much appreciated, especially on the column, im not sure what the easiest way is...
its an automatic tilt column if it makes any difference. |

Steering column removal.
Remove steering wheel, if your seat is out, you can leave the steering wheel on. Separate column at first joint, (leave extension and rag joint on box for now) Remove shift linkage from outside lever Remove clamp on column at outside fire wall Remove inner retainer at base of steering and pull rubber seal free of fire wall Remove upper trim Remove cover plate Disconnect wires Remove upper clamp and lower steering column and rotate column so that shift arm will clear hole in firewall. (It helps to have someone help you guide it through) I don't think that I forgot any steps. To get the clutch and break pedal assembly out, remove dash master cylinder/booster and proceed from there to remove clutch linkage and mounting bolt. Good luck! Jim |
