Re: good hood

What's it worth..when selling and What's it worth...when buying are two different things. In my experience, I have found a good, used, rust-free, dent-free '62-'66 Chevy truck hood shell is $175.00-$200.00, plus the cost to crate and ship, which can more than double the price. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the vine ruffrida.

Re: good hood

I've taken to just looking for a complete truck with a good hood, switch 'em out and resell, or part the truck for extra profit!

I paid $60 for a decent 62-6 gmc hood.
I paid $100 for a 66 truck, for which the only part I needed was the hood.
out of the 13 trucks I have I only have 2 hoods that only need minor work to be used, so they are kind of a pita to find...

I will gladly pay $200 for a "rust free and dent free" hood for a '65.

I traded a guy a 6 month old cat for a 65 hood a few weeks ago. No joke.

Re: good hood

I am glad I am not relying on my good, used, rust-free, dent-free hoods, as my primary source of income. If you find a truly rust-free, dent-free hood for under $100.00, I personally believe, you have found a very nice deal.

Re: good hood

Man that seems to be to me the one part on these thats always rust and dent free for 300 i would just find you a parts truck off of craigs list....
Just wait for summer and hit the swapmeets up or if you see a guy withthat style truck ask him if he has one or knows anybody that does you would be surprised.....I paid 600 for my truck and its my daily driver...You will find it cheap! Unless you are looking for perfect then go to classic parts or lmc jmo

I don't think you are out of line on your price at all, that is probably what I would charge if I had one for sale.

just in some cases I think it would make sense to buy a whole truck for just the hood.

BTW if you happen to even find a rustand dent free hood for sale, buy a lotto ticket!

I have probably looked at 40-60 hoods for sale over the last 2 years , and have yet to find one that wasn't compromised in some way.

Since I'm lost in the 50s, I really like the skirts on your truck. Gives it a loong, low look. Don't see them often on a pu.

No hijack intended.

I agree. I searched for 5 years before coming up with the hood on my truck. I'm not so sure it's a matter of price so much as finding something worth buying at all. The only rust-free, dent-free hoods I've found were on a school bus, a big rig, or somebody else's finished truck. In each case they weren't for sale.

Last year I was offered a cherry rust and dent free GMC hood for $50. The only defect was an "easily repaired" scratch on the top. Upon inspection, I agreed I could easily fix the scratch, but the top was caved in enough to hold several gallons of water. I kept my $50.
