Advise on removing/installing lowerer ball joints???

I have to replace my lowerer ball joints on my 2000 silverado 2wd next weekend. Any tricks or advise would be greatly appreciated. I have basic hand tools, but no press to press ball joints in??? I was thinking of leavings lowerer arms on the truck and using a large c-clamp with a deep socket on one end and another socket on the other???

No press needed. Those ball joints are riveted in. Just grind the heads off the rivets and knock them out. The new joints will then bolt in place.

Re: Asdvise on removing/installing lowerer ball joints???

I used heavy duty ratchet straps to hold the spring in place and lowered it easily after I nocked the balljoint loose with a ball join fork. then go down the I hate to say it, but auto zone and rent a ball joint press. There is no way I would do this any other way. takes minutes with the right tool and it is free to use. good luck

This would be good enough for me. I think Nate has been doing this stuff for a minute or two

You never mentioned (until now), that you had DJM lower control arms.
They take a press in ball joint.

That makes more sense why you would need a ball joint press!
