a sad day maybe...

the motor in my truck is getting tired. the timing chain is stretched, the rings are starting to fade away, and the headers keep warping to the point where i have a constant leak. i press the pedal and i no longer get places quite as fast. i may be selling the old beast however, i may avert the disaster, but really don't know if i can ever find the time. i've found several vortecs with 4l60e and tc for 4x4. i may do the swap, but like i said, i really don't know if i have the time. i guess i'm posting in hopes that someone will inspire me before i take pictures for craigslist.

Re: a sad day maybe...

Just remember that mechanical repairs are the easiest to make. If the body and chassis are good most potential buyers aren't going to put much priority on how it runs. When I get discouraged I put the truck under a cover for a few weeks and leave it alone. Once the frustration wears off I get it back out and wonder what on earth I was thinking - and find myself reinspired.

Re: a sad day maybe...

Good point...when I get uninspired toward one of my trucks, I give it a little love by washing and detailing it or making some minor repairs or upgrades...all of a sudden, it starts loving me back and any thoughts of selling it, quickly fade away.

Save yourself the sadness of "seller's remorse" and keep her around until you find the right deal on an engine/tranny combination and it will all seem right again.

Hey, man-up. Quit your whining and get to work on that thing.
That's what this hobby is all about. To me, when the truck's done it just ain't as much fun anymore. I enjoy working on them.
