Street and performance fit. Just call and talk to Mark, tell him what you have and what tranny(important). Pricey but look good and fit.

I'm sorry but that doesnt tell him anything. As said earlier in that post, it's not even a 73-87 frame pictured. I dont trust the guys at BRP, lots of promises and no proof of anything.

I think I'm gonna swap the flanges on some big block headers and have them ceramic coated. Seems like the best way to get true big/long tubes.

And that brp crossmember for our trucks looks like they smashed exhaust tubing in a vice.

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
Wow! SatisTraction,
what a great idea! this way we have a small library of different options instead of all of us running the same header that one board member found and then every one just copies that person. well here is my contribution to the "does not fit" its the edelbrock 65022 I tried bolting them om on to an 86 with a 6.0L that uses the TransDapt adapter plates 4572, these are the adapter plates that bolt on to the factory small block location. hope this helps somebody! the drivers side bolted on as you will see in the pictures but there is maybe 1/8th clearance between the header and the frame. Passenger side does not even bolt on, the header his the frame and motor mount saddle. I hope more people will contribute to this thread as it will place all the header information on one thread as opposed to reading thru build threads that wile very informative, some times its hard just finding the specific info you need

I bought mine from Mark, they took a while to show up but I think that\s because I'm in Alberta. They aren't cheap --- you just have to tell him exactly what they are bolting onto and what kind / year truck frame you have. There was one other thing he needed to know but I'm out of town right now and don't have my notes with me to check, will edit once I remember.

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
You can get some from Street & Performance like I did. Very nice quality & fit - they build them custom in-house. Bunch of different applications. Worth a shot!

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
I had a thread in LSx swaps asking for a part number on these headers....not a reply in weeks.
I think you just have to call Mark and tell him your application.

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
Yeah, that's what I did - just called them up & gave them the application info - they go from there. May have been a part number on it when it arrived at the shop but I never saw it sorry... They are very helpful though there at S&P.

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
adding to the list I have an 86 K30 with advanced adapter mounts this is a 4x4 truck
DID FIT: the 88-98 shoenfeld ls swap headers fit with trimming the D/S frame about 1/2 but collector is very close to shifter but no interference, P/S fit with cutting off trans ear but is almost touching my vaccum modualtor on the th400 DID NOT: Someone recomended 73-87 BBC headers and LS flanges, no way. for one the head is on more of a downward angle so the headers flare way out. Even after heating and bending them straight they would not work with the LS flange because the tubes hit each other and I was about 1" off the last port. These would take extensive modification of the tubes to work. Last edited by fgrecycling; 06-20-2011 at 08:25 PM. |

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
I am running the 99- style 5.3 pace setter headers on my truck fit is retarded close even after dinging some of the tubes. on occasion i get a header to frame rattle. They work for me... i made my own adapter plates.

Did the Hooker Headers interfere with the gear selector? If so how did you fix it?

I have Hooker Hustlers (mid) installed. I had to trim engine mount shells a little. But otherwise they went right in.

What about the OBX truck headers for 99+ Vortec trucks? I had those on my 2003 Silverado SS and loved them.

Re: 73-87 C10 ls1 swap guys, what headers have you tried that did or DID NOT fit?
I went thru the header thing on my 82 2wd . Schoenfield headers did not fit very well . Touched the upper control arm and was not much clearance for the stock linkage at all.
Got wind of someone using a Dynatech long tube 70-81 camaro header and holy cow these thinks fit like they were made for it . Cleared everything . If your looking to use stock linkage these will work. .They were a long tube so they pointed at the trans cross-member .I did not want to jockey it over so I changed it out to one of summits 3" rise round universal one so the exhaust would shoot straight back. Looks like it was made for it . I would highly recommend these for your swap . Last edited by homemade87; 12-23-2014 at 08:23 AM. |

Ive got the trailblazer ss long tubes made by pacesetter on mine. They fit great but I am running a porterbuilt dropmember in my truck.

I used the Muscle Rods Hedman headers on my LS swap. I had zero issues. They were a shorty header granted.
