79 convert from manual to power brakes... What do I need
My 79 manual master cylinder has gone out. No fliud/air coming out of the front resevior. Since I have to replace it anyway... what do I need to convert to power brakes? Besides the obvious master cylinder and brake booster. What about the pedal itself? The prop valve? It has disc in front and drum in rear.

Nothing....just the booster and new master.

DOes the pedal have another hole for the power MC? The leverage is different on the manual vs. power right?

Re: 79 convert from manual to power brakes... What do I need
You will need the pedal from a power brake vehicle. If you use the manual brake pedal the brakes will be SUPER touchy. When you get the booster make sure the "apply" rod is in it. It's a little rod in the center of booster held in place by a rubber disc that pushes the piston in the master cyl. Other than that, all you'll need is time to do it carefully.

The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |
