Re: wierd size spare tire on my 79

I am no expert but a quick google came up with this Tire Size Conversion Chart If I'm reading the chart correctly, an H78/15 translates into a 225/75R15. Bias Ply was the tire design before Radials were developed. Looks like we are both showing our ages.

I have 235/75 15's on my truck also. They are a little taller I believe and may throw the speedo off a tad. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct anything that I have wrong.

Re: wierd size spare tire on my 79

he is right.. they used to do letters.. i run 235 in the back to handle more weight and make the truck more stable and 225 up front

Re: wierd size spare tire on my 79

I also just found this cool little Tire Size Calculator that will show you how a different tire size will effect your speedometer.

Now that's cool calculator, I was able to enter the sizes on my 97 and see why it sucks sooo much gas and how to calculate my speed since the speedo is off !

Now to see if I can find some tires close to stock height to get my mileage back up....
