Out with the old, in with the, well old!
I recently swapped out the 250 I6 and three speed that was in my truck for a 283, TH350 that I rebuilt. When I purchased the truck, I had wanted the six and three speed, but after driving it for a while, it just wasn't doing it for me. I'm actually running an early Hudson Carter 2bbl right now, same bolt pattern as the Rochester, but I'm thinking of swapping that all out out for a 500CFM Edelbrock 4 bbl and early 327 4bbl intake. Trying to keep it mild, it is my daily driver. Just as I went to post the pics for this, I realized I don't have any pics of the six before I pulled it. I know I took them, but can't find them. I've got some earlier pics from when I first bought the truck, just imagine the six as nicely detailed as the 283, with the same color scheme.

Looks great with that nice orange original look, especially with the scripted valve covers. I grew up with Chevy sixes and enjoyed the sound and feel of the engine, but I also remember how thrilled I was when I did my first 283 swap. No comparison in the fun factor.
