New Member - more 68 pics
Hi everyone,
I have pasted below a couple more pics of the 68 I got for $999. Now that I have had time to go through it I would say the truck is about 80% completed considering where I want it to be. |

Re: New Member - more 68 pics
You pretty much just named what I want to do. I was mainly looking for a fairly straight truck with good glass and a decent engine. Got that but that is all, everything else will need to change but it shouldn't be too difficult. I am looking forward to doing it over the next year and then I will be driving it!

Re: New Member - more 68 pics
Yeah, it has a fairly recently rebuilt 350 with a new Edlebrock 650, new radiator, new alternator and HEI ignition. It starts right up on the first turn and runs really smooth. I won't have to do much engine wise right away. I got really lucky. The guy I bought it from is a real stand up guy. He offered it to me for a grand and I asked him if he would wait a couple weeks since I was out of town. Before I got home he was offered MUCH, MUCH more but he stuck to his word and sold it to me for the original price we agreed upon.

Re: New Member - more 68 pics
Welcome!
The truck looks like a solid all there truck, which is a huge step forward plus you got a killer deal. But. like mentioned above, I'd fix that grill up. Kind of reminds me of a really hot woman that has way to much mascara on, you can see her beauty but your mind is saying something else.

Re: New Member - more 68 pics
Good deal. I like black, but the front end is just a bit too black. Needs some contrast.

Re: New Member - more 68 pics
Thanks for the input everyone, I am still trying to stop laughing from the mascara analogy. That was dead on. And it does look like the great pumpkin. =) I am in learning mode myself since my previous Chevy's have been 65 and 66 models. I just can't get over the subtle yet strong lines on the 67-72's. They really go it right and set the standard for all trucks to come. Simplicity driven to the extreme. Purity. I bet in 67 these trucks looked futuristic. Like I said, I have always wanted one but never thought I could afford it but I really got lucky. I will post pics (and I'm sure many questions) as I start working on it. Thanks again for all of the feedback.

Re: New Member - more 68 pics
60-66 trucks look old (and I like that).
67-72 look timeless (when I registered my '67 the motor vehicles guy asked if it was a '79).
