radiator?

i have a 1987 350 that i installed in my 62 it has a 4 row stock style radiator in it my question is ,do i need to change my waterpump so the flow direction is right so it will cool right or will it work the same even tho its not a cross flow radiator,and if it matters witch waterpump will i need?any help would be appreciated ,Thanks Ron

The water pump won't care if the radiator is cross or down flow, so long as the outlet on the intake manifold goes to the upper radiator inlet and the water pump draws from the lower outlet of the radiator. If you have a serpentine belt system and water pump, that drive arrangement will have to remain for the pump to operate correctly. To use a conventional V-belt drive, a standard water pump (long or short) could be used. The long pump is preferred if there is room for it, as it has bigger bearings and durability.
