I just found a set of Cragars...

I was driving home and passed by a Tire Shop that had a set of Cragars sitting up front. They are 5 lug...15x7 F and 15x7 1/2s R. I have 6 lug now, but want to go to 5 lug within the next year. I stopped and talked to the guy, They are dirt cheap!!! I don't get paid til next week. Should I get a payday loan???

Never get a payday advance, those companies are sharks. Cragars are sweet, if they're there when you get paid then grab 'em if its a good price. If they're gone, then it wasn't meant to be.

If they are uni-lug (Ford-Mopar-Chevy oval type holes) Cragars I would pass. I always had problems getting them to balance... very - very - anoying.

Thanks man, I'll have to look into that. I was only there for a few minutes, but I don't remember them being oval. He did say they came off a Chevy though.

Re: I just found a set of Cragars...

I'm thinking that 200 for a set of cragars is closer to an average price and not really a "good" price. If they're not there when you get paid you can find another set. Although, it's been awhile since i shopped cragars.

you also might want to keep in mind that they could be 5x5, or I think the mid sixties cars went to 5X4.75. Something to think about for your five lug swap.

Re: I just found a set of Cragars...

Well...I went with my gut feeling on this one and bought the wheels.
2 are in excellent shape, 1 has a slight curb check and 1 just needs to be cleaned up... I paid $160.00. All in all I think I left like a thief in the night...LOL

Good lookin' wheels. So, did they turn out to be uni-lug? You'll need the "special" lug nuts and washers if so.

Re: I just found a set of Cragars...

Very cool. I love the look of Cragar S/S's. My cousin just bought a set of 4, 15x8 Rockets with spinner caps at a local swap meet last week for $90. Sweet wheels. Turns out the offset won't work for him so he's turning them on to me. I'm not sure yet, but they will probably go on my '73 with some T/A's.

I haven't really checked them out, but I will.
I've been preping my bed for paint.
