question on 70s GMC tailgate
simply put:
1) is that a stamping in a weird place from the factory on that 1974 era truck? 2) is it just some emblem that was added on at some point, and when the gate was repainted to go onto the truck not removed and got covered? It looks like #2 to me, BUT, the rest of the truck is nice and has no trim or emblems painted over so makes no sense to me... see the picture: |

I think it is 73-75. I have one as well, mine has the GMC emblem that sits over the embossed GMC, and it also has the tailgate band as well.

It is factory for a GMC from 1973-1974 after that they went over to the gmc logo stamped in the center of the gate.
