White header pipes?

I'm really not too sure what the problem is here, but maybe someone can lend me some insight as to what the issue may be. On my truck, I have a fairly cheap set of flow-tech headers (Hey, they work.) However something odd is happening to them.

A few miles after the install, of course all the paint had baked off, no big deal. I Didn't really expect the headers to change colors much more beyond maybe rust brown but infact, they have turned white.

A white power like substance is forming on the outside of them all. It can be cleaned off via the use of water and a rag but it returns with a vengence after running for a short while.

What is causing this? I thought maybe a lean condition, but the spark plugs aren't showing signs of being lean at all.

That was my exact thought of being too lean and running hot. Maybe something to do with the paint they had on there? My Heddman Hedders didn't turn white at all. Do you have anything leaking onto them? Oil, water, etc?

Nothing leaking onto the pipes. Infact my truck no longer leaks a drop of anything.

Whatever this stuff is, it's strange. It's a white powder of sorts, touching the pipe with your hand will transfer it to your skin - and it does not want to come off all too easy.

Ok so after the paint flaked off this came to be right after? If so I bet it's the primer residue. Thinking back I think mine did that a little bit. I would let it burn off an should go away later on after heated up enough. Just wash it all off when the truck isd totally cooled down to get anything left on there.

my flowtechs turned white too. Altough now they are starting to take on a redish tint. Almost all of the white stuff is gone. I've hade them on there since August.

my FlowTechs didnt turn white... however, the Edelbrock TEMS i had on my TA did.
