heater delete

my '63 has the delete plates but there is a heater under the dash. My '64 has a big heater under the hood. Is the one in the '63 a heater?

Re: heater delete

The heater/defroster, with the heater core & blower, are the underdash style on your '63, so everything is inside the cab, vs. the underhood box, with the heater core & blower in the engine bay, like on your '64.

Re: heater delete

Will the 63 under dash units work in a 62?

Re: heater delete

Are there any opinions between the under-dash vs. engine bay heater setup? i really dont like the look of the engine bay heater, and have liked the idea of a cleaner engine bay and heater control setup that comes with the "economy recirculating" option. heres a pic bty...............

anyone whos tried out both? it gets cold out here in idaho and i want a good, hot heater

Re: heater delete

RPO Option Number
C43 Recirculating;inside air. All components inside the cab.

C42 De Luxe; outside air. Heater core in engine compartment, blown inside

I found on my 62 with a recirculating type heater that it takes along time to get rid of the humidity in the cab, as the Deluxe heater supplies dryer air drawn from the cowl vent. Deluxe heater is also quieter.

If you plan on driving your truck during the winter months, you'll want the Deluxe heater. The Recirculating heaters don't do a very good job of defrosting or defogging in the colder climates.

Re: heater delete

Not to jack the thread-- but I just found a deluxe core and installed in my thrift air box (under the hood ) after a little cutting and modifications. Idaho winters require all the heat we can get!!
