backing plate/dust shield

Is it a problem to leave off the shield that bolts to the spindle behind the rotor? After two days I finally got my spindles installed only to turn around and see the drivers side shield laying in the grass. really hope I don't have to tear it back apart, Thanks.

Ive seen plenty of people not run them, I don't think it will give you any problems, unless you are out muddin'
