WIW: 78 Chevy 250 Power Steering Setup
Is the 250 Power Steering Setup from a 78 as rare and desireable as the 67-72 one is? Is it worth grabbing? What do they go for? Thanks.

Hi JimmyFloyd,
GM changed to an "integral head" on the inline sixes sometime around 1975. They have the intake manifold cast as part of the head (not a separate bolt-on manifold like earlier years). I think the power steering brackets might be different as a result. I have a couple PS setups off 75-79 Novas with 250 engines that look very similar to the one in your pics. I've been meaning to test fit one on a non-integral head inline-six to see if they'll even come close to fitting but haven't gotten around to it yet. By the way, I believe that air cleaner pictured in your first post is specific to inline-six trucks with power brakes and might be of interest to some folks. The regular air cleaner won't clear a brake booster. |
