68 power disc brake swap?
I'm about to replace the drum brakes for power disc.
It's a 68,CST,long fleetside. What I want to know is which is better: 71- 72 disc front end Or 73 to 87 disc front end I plan to change the whole thing-crossmember and all.I have both front ends still in the trucks in the yard. I'm pulling the 327/400 out of the 68 for some repairs and re-paint,so now would be a good time to do the disc brake change while everything is out of the way. Hope to be done for 'Crusin The Coast this fall! Thanks for any help or advice! Mike. |

Re: 68 power disc brake swap?
Not much of a difference functionaly but parts from 73-87 are a whole lot easier to find and cheaper than 71/2 parts.

100%Chevy,...
Look around in the suspension section. Tons of info there. I agree,... the 73-87 parts are much cheaper to buy. Get all the steering components while you are at it. (And the sway bar) Keep us posted on your progress!

Re: 68 power disc brake swap?
73-up is definitely better because it has rubber control arm bushings that don't need to be greased. Anyone who is in the grease gun or related equipment business is free to disagree.
