Why not buy new?
I see people buying & selling so many parts & many of them are just barely under the price they can be bought for new in the catalogs. I know most of the stuff from LMC is complete junk, but how about some of the others?
Mothertruckers comes to mind since I know he is on here so much. His patch panels & sheetmetal prices seem fair so how's the quality? I know there are great deals when buying used, but it seems lately I'm seeing people selling used for $90 when you can get new for $100 & you don't have to worry about not getting the part. Also, I need floor panels for a 70 K5. Are they the same as the truck floor panels? Mike |

So much of the time "new" aftermarket parts require some fabricartion to get a good fit. Some don't fit at all.
Where as you can bolt on a good used OE part and know it will fit good. However this not the case with everything, some new pieces are of great fit and quality. Guess it depends on the part you need. I have found good used OE or NOS sheet metal is a good investment but thats just my opinion. |

i know in the case of tailgates, the repro's are thin and cheap and bend real easy...much better to buy used

Sounds like most of this you are speaking of body and sheet metal panels;
What about all the interior type parts, panels for doors, heater controls, etc? As a rule are these parts of a good quality and work well?

I would'nt say most of LMC's products are junk? Overpriced? For sure, but not junk... I ordered several parts from LMC (before I knew about their ludicrous prices) and all my trim and interior pieces came in GM wrapping and fit perfectly.

parts prices
I bought an aftermarket tail gate smooth type and it was of poor quality. I did not buy from any of the vendors here though. It was before I found the site. For all future body parts, I will only deal with these vendors/members. Wootdog

I'm not knocking used parts. I know from my own experience not to buy a cheap aftermarket core support. It was a pain & didn't fit very well at all.
Most of the stuff I was thinking about buying new was like the knobs, mirrors, door handles, grills..... DO the grills usually not fit right either. If you can get a grill new for $300, why pay $175 or so plus shipping for one that's ok but not in perfect new condition? |

I bought Tiwannnes Inner fenders Complete CRAP Took atleast 20 hours to get them to fit 3 holes were not even there ! I had to add metal there so that I could dril the hole. The round shape Did not match the fender ....... Sucked So Much. But you can't get rust free metal around here.

I bought an aftermarket grill from the Truck Shop at a Good Guys show for $200. It fit good and looks good but be careful handleing it, they are NOT as hardy as an original.
